On July 19th, 2009, over 20 top impersonators will compete for $1000.00 and the bragging rights of being Canada's top impersonator. The audience will include some of the top talent buyers in the country and many of the acts are more interested in the potential work than the big cash prize. The competition is presented by Lady Luck Music who made their name producing Elvis contests and productions and founders of Elvis Tribute Artists Radio, an online radio show featuring Elvis tribute artists Their specialty in a People's Choice type of contest, where the audience actually votes for their favourite entertainer by ballot. And it looks like this audience is all geared up for the thrill and excitement that awaits them, when being entertained by impersonators who portray Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Tom Jones, Dean Martin, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, Barbara Streisand, Wynona Judd, Garth Brooks, Janis Joplin, Conway Twitty, Willie Nelson, John Denver, Englebert Humperdink, Dion, Blake Shelton, Big Bopper, Bill Haley, Marilyn Monroe, Lucille Ball, Neil Diamond and so many more. "We are always more interested in what the audience thinks than what a panel of judges decide", said Joanna Johnson of LLM and host of the event. "We do a lot of shows ourselves and we wanted to see what was out there for us and also our good friends in the industry".
Some of the talent signed for the event is well established and some are trying to break into impersonation. The competition will be held at the beautiful Guelph Place Banquet Hall, which has a potential capacity of 700 people. “Most of the great impersonator talent is found in and around Toronto, so it was natural to hold it there and these events are just perfect for beautiful hall like the Guelph Place - and it can hold 700 people!” said Johnson with exuberance.
