Hello friends and Elvis fans! We promised to let you know all about the great time we had and we hope you're going to enjoy the following pages of sights and sounds from the 1st annual Peoples Choice Contest and Showcase which took place May 28 & 29, 2005 in Mississauga, Ontario, at the Carassauga Festival Of Cultures. The Gateway Centre For New Canadians housed the USA Pavilion and entertainment filled the hall from noon 'till night. Such a wonderful time was shared by ETAs and spectators alike on this last Saturday and Sunday in May and Elvis fans were entertained by 13 super performers - the 10 in the Showcase & Contest, two little darlings Steven Pelleriti and Jackson Begley, and special guest, Collingwood & Vegas Champ Gino Monopoli. The USA Pavilion was rockin' & rollin' and our hosts, the Canadian - American Friendship & Cultural Society, were dancing in the aisles along with the audience. There was a very friendly, happy, party atmosphere in the hall that could be felt throughout the entire weekend. A wonderful variety of entertainment to be seen besides the ETAs, like dancers, young singers, youth dance troops and a dynamic performer we were surprised to find in Mississauga from the original "Platters", Mr Bobby Soul who was by the way, simply amazing! There were various vendors (Louise Cowitz & partner Joan were on hand with E memorabilia) for the kids there were magicians & face painters, Simon who was doing incredible caricatures, and lots of food & drink in the "USA Cafe". By Sunday afternoon, the audience was ready to vote for their favourite ETA, they carefully looked at every move and listened to every note, and by the time the event was over, they had chosen Marcus Wells (3rd), Paul Ross (2nd) and Will Ganzon (1st) as the Peoples Choice winners! I would like to thank the organizers of the event, who's efforts should not go unnoticed, you all helped make the event a success. So to our hosts, the Canadian - American Friendship & Cultural Society, I would like to say that the Elvis Tribute Artists and everyone involved with Lady Luck Music would like to thank you for your kindness in welcoming us into your "family". Thanks so much to Geopo & Jane Dacanay, Pastor Julius & Bunny Taingson, Jose (Joe) & Myrna de la Cruz, Kernell & Bing and all the staff and volunteers, you are all amazing people, God Bless and adios until next year, Joanna!
Now all you have to do folks, is scroll down and take a look and when you are finished, click here to enjoy more of the sights and sounds of Carassauga!
