1. What made you want to become an ETA?
I became and ETA almost totally by accident. My mom has always thought I
had a resemblence to Elvis and as I got older It became a regular occurence
that others would make the same comment. I began to research the background
on ETA's and began doing local talent contests simply for fun and I slowly
started to get "gigs" from there. I have always had a love for music and for
the stage and It has simply been a blessing to become a part of this
profession.

2. What is your main goal being an ETA?

My main goal as an ETA is to portray Elvis to the audience to best of my
ability and as authentic as I can so that the general public will have and
Image in there minds of how great an entertainer and person that he was. I
also hope to bring others back to time that created so many great memories
for them.

3. What are some of your favorite songs to perform?
Some of my favorite songs to perform would have to be "Money Honey",
"Rock-A-Hula","G.I. Blues", "Polk Slad",& "You Gave Me A Mountain".

4. Where has or where would you like your show to take you?
Well my show has takn me to many places that I may have never seen. I
think that is one of the many great things about being an ETA. Ive been to
New York, Las Vegas, and soon to be Canada and I hope to oneday take the show overseas to Hawaii, Japan, & Australia.

5. Have you been to Memphis? If so what did that experience mean to you?

Yes I have been to Memphis several times and everytime it has been an
enjoyable experience. The first visit to Memphis had to be the visit with
the most meaning because it was my first experience getting to see
Graceland, and I think that speaks for itself.

6. Have you attended Elvis Week?

Yes I have attended Elvis week where I have been first runner up in the
International Images of the King Competition for the past two years.

7. Have you ever considered throwing any "Non-Elvis" songs into a show?

Yes I suppose the thought of throwing non-elvis songs into the show has
crossed my mind but I havent been able to get all of Elvis songs into the
show ,and that is an accomplishment in itself..haha!

8. How do your family and friends feel about what you do?
My family and friends are probably the main reason that have been able to survive in this business. They have supported me from day one and been
behind me through thick and thin. I can never thank them enough for what
they have done to help me succeed!

9. Have you met anyone that worked with or knew Elvis? If so, name a few.

I have had the pleasure of meeting Charlie Hodge however it was right
before I became an ETA and I am looking forward to a show I am doing with
The Jordanaires in October.

10. Have you made any new friends resulting from your tribute?
Meeting new friends is right on the tope of the list in this profession.
Everywhere you go you meet new people and generally you cant be around a
better group . My joining the EEN (Elvis Entertainers Network) was one of
the best moves in my career for many reasons but meeting so many great
people has been a huge reward. Nance Fax,Doug Church, Irv Cass,David Lee, yourself and the list is ongoing! Im sure you know all of the awesome people and would only agree with me.

11. What era of Elvis do you like to portray?

I like to portray every era of Elvis

12. What other interests/hobbies do you have?
I love sports, music of all types, I love dancing and just hangin out
with all my friends, and last but certainly not least my favorite past
time...Sleepin.

13. Any Comments to the fans?

The biggest thing I can say to the fans is THANK YOU for supporting all
ETAs and what we do and for helping us keep Elvis' music and name alive. We all know that without the fans we the performers would be nothing .

Hello Lady Luck Readers and listeners! Happy Summer and Happy 4th of July to those of you in the US celebrating Independance Day! I hope you have a safe and fun filled holiday and summer! Those of you that are going to Memphis for Elvis Trihute Week, it’s quickly approaching! There is only one full month left to wait! :) As always thanks for reading Cortney’s Corner, feel free to email me with your thoughts!

When most people hear: Louisiana, they think..New Orleans...Mardi Gras....etc....well nowadays some people may think..Brandon Bennett! Brandon Bennett is a younger ETA, but he portrays all era's of Elvis' Career!

The first time I seen Brandon was in Memphis during Elvis Week 2000. He entered the Images Of The King contest at the Holiday Inn Select Hotel. There were people everywhere wearing Brandon Bennett t-shirts, buttons, etc. It was apparent that Brandon had many fans/friends/family travel from his home area to see him in the contest. Brandon put on a great performance that landed him in the finals of the contest. He ended up placing second in the contest, his first year there! Brandon gave a friend & I his email address and I believe I emailed him to congragulate him once I got home.

I didn't see Brandon again until Elvis Week 2001 where he was again in the contest. Lo and Behold, Brandon took second place again! This was something I hadn't seen happen before in all the years I had attended the contest. After Elvis Week I seen Brandon once again in LaCrosse, WI at the Elvis Explosion Contest. He again put on a great performance. He seemed to have a good time with all the other ETA's, and seemed to be nice to his fans also, which is always a good thing!

On January 18th, 2002, a group of ETA's from the Elvis Entertainers Network were on "Ricki Lake's Shake, Rattle & Roll Elvis Battle" They competed to obtain the crown and become the "King of Kings" Brandon won the competition!

Brandon keeps busy doing shows with his band "The Heartbreak Orchestra" at casinos on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. He will be attending the contest in Collingwood this year, for the first time, and his first time ever in Canada! In October he will be doing a show with the Jordanaires. Brandon also recently performed on the same stage Elvis did at the Louisiana Hayride, in Shreveport.

Thanks for reading Cortney's Corner! You can stop by Brandon's website to learn more about him at: www.elvismyway.com
