Selvis and Shon Carroll
Elvis Fest Toronto 2006
The theme of this evening was "Elvis Fest Toronto 2006" (featuring Selvis and Shon Carroll), prior to these two great ETAS performing for the evening, The Mix Community Club (Social Club) had 3 of their own Clients perform some songs and a few Elvis tunes and they were each blind, they were quite the musicians. Prior to Selvis and Shon taking the stage we listened to a few announcements of the Staff of The Mix Community Club, they made us all aware of some future events that will be taking place over the forth coming months to help raise some funds for them. The events sound quite exciting that we might check them out ourselves.
Now on to Shon and Selvis~
Shon Carroll was the first to start the evening off with performing of Elvis 50's and 60's era. After about 25 minutes of being up on the stage, Shon made his way to the floor and carried on with his singing, mingling with each of the clients at the floor level and it was quite obvious that the clients of The Mix loved him.... Shon did not stop at the floor level, he made his way to the back of the room, which is a slight upper level and mixed in with the clients there and continued on in song and spent at least 15 minutes back there. As always, Shon put on a good show and it was great seeing him again and look forward to seeing him again in the future!
Selvis had quite the entrance on to the stage that would leave one wondering if that was Elvis who was coming out! The music that was playing prior to Selvis making way to the stage and the song booming and the audience yelling Selvis, Selvis, Selvis in anticipation of his coming out , was "Space Odyssey 2001"! It was great to once again see Selvis' back-up singer Debbie Jansen, the lady with a voice that sounds like an 'angel' ;) and with Shon Carroll's wife assisting on handing out scarf's to Selvis.
Selvis sung quite a few songs, he too was enjoyed by all clients and others that came to support the The Mix Elvis Fest 2006. Selvis descended eventually to the floor, making his way through the clients at floor level, mingling with them all the way to the back of the room. At some point of the show at the back of the room, one of the clients was so captivated by Selvis that she managed she have a brief Elvis moment with Selvis and got a momentary kiss and she appeared to be in complete awe of it. ;)
Oh, I have yet another scarf added to my collection my by best close/best friend Selvis ;), as I was taking a picture of him to add to his web-site, he handed me a scarf. Thanks again Sal! Yet another absolutely great show put on by Selvis!
I am certain that the people at The Mix Community Club are looking forward to seeing both Shon and Selvis next year again.
Selvis, Shon, Debbie Jansen and Tammy Carroll are 4 wonderful and dedicated people, with a open heart, as these 4 help to make the annual event of "The Mix Elvis Fest" a success!
Thank you,

Friday, April 28 2006 David and I attended a very special evening in Scarborough, Ontario
at a non-profit Social Club that was quite unique and special. This Social Club believes in raising awareness and participation towards Social Integration for people with disabilities. During mid-part of the evening at this event I spoke to one of the staff there and they estimated there was at least over 200 people at that moment, and a good majority of them were clients of a variety of group homes and also individuals living at home with their families who all had different disabilities.
