Oh WoW Collingwood! You’ve done it again. The festival was super, amazing, bigger and better than ever, ensuring Elvis Presley remained larger than life in the hearts of all the Elvis fans in attendance.
As usual, I love to talk with everyone from the fans to the ETAs; from the town of Collingwood “brass” to their staff and volunteers; from the judges to the musicians and from the camera crews to the OPP. It’s a great way to catch up with old friends, make new ones and get to see what’s happening behind the scenes and on the street, to be able to tell you about the wonderful experience shared by all. LLM head writer Carol Hunter (make sure to read Carol’s Collingwood article) and photographer Doug McCready are close by most of the time and we try not to miss too much of the fun, though there is so much to see.
We’re talking about great the entertainment, organization and production of the largest Elvis Festival in the world. And let’s not forget the fans! Good people make for a good party, so on behalf of LLM, I’d like to say thank you Elvis Fans for coming together to mark the thirtieth year of Elvis’ passing. A huge big thanks with lotsa love to Rosemarie O’Brien, Peter Dunbar, Karen, Marion & Jim Anderson, Mary-Ann, Lisa & the rest of the staff; security and volunteers; the town of Collingwood for being so hospitable; Sirius Radio (& Sherry) and we can’t forget Amber from CHUM; the King’s Court judges Wendy King, Heather & Nevin Grant, Echo Starr and Mary & Burt Thombs; band leader and bassist Paco Danesi and his incredible musicians, the superb vocalists, sound and light crew (I know I’ve forgotten someone, sorry for that) . Last but certainly not least, thank you to the over 100 Elvis Entertainers for paying their tributes to Elvis. Hats off everyone! It was a terrific event and we’ll see you in Collingwood July 24 - 28, 2008!
