There's a time and place for everything, even in the world of E-show-biz and in this particular case, E-contests. Too often heard is the word "serious" - with reference to the ETAs (garb, vocals, performance, attitude, etc.), the judges, maybe even the audience. Not too often heard is the word "fun" - referring to the actual contest event. Well, just plain "serious" might be the way things are done - some other place, some other time - but not at an LLM's People Choice Awards Competition! Each one of our events has the mark of "serious fun" attached to it, with an emphasis on quality ETA entertainment and a love for Elvis Presley. Elvis fans can come out to enjoy each others company in a friendly atmosphere, perhaps buy some Elvis memorabilia, have their say by voting for their favourite ETA and in general, really kick back and take in a great show! And let's not forget the ETAs themselves who enjoy performing (stress free) with their peers for that appreciative audience! Our fun-filled event has turned into a "travelling road show of shows" you might say, as this year alone LLM has gone from Montreal, to Nashville, to Mississauga to our most recent Peoples Choice in Hamilton, reporting on the events for all of you to see how much fun we did have! If ever you are in the area of our next show, drop in and be a part of the action - we'd love to see you!
This October 23rd event was a fundraiser for the Kiwanis Club Of Greater Hamilton's "Grocer-Eaze" program. Its director Bev Morgan & a few of her staff were on hand to explain a bit about the program and to thank the people & ETAs for supporting their cause. The owner of the beautiful and very popular Plainsman Restaurant in Dundas, Mike Good, opened his doors to welcome & accommodate a very enthusiastic "Elvis" crowd and Louise Cowitz did a tremendous job organizing the event! She made umpteen phone calls, sold the tickets, set up & decorated the room, worked the door - and with the help of her grand-daughter Brooke Cowitz, helpful friend Norm and partner Joan Watson, Louise sold her lovely Elvis memorabilia and arranged for the door prizes. Sound was provided by the very attractive Joan Ballentyne (and what a voice she has by the way) of "Music By Joan" and her assistant Verne. Anthony Von was the guest ETA, the audience was more than terrific, the ETAs sensational and oh so professional, who could ask for more! Friends, Hamilton had a ball!! Pics were taken by LLM's photographer Doug McCready, with the odd snapshot taken by ETAR's man in "master control", Jimmy Redmond (he was hiding behind the sound board recording the audio) and yours truly had the pleasure of emceeing the show. I would like to thank each and everyone of the people who helped make the 1st annual Hamilton Peoples Choice a success, it was a pleasure working with you, adios until your 2nd annual! Now we'd like you to take a look at some of the sights & sounds of the show.....enjoy! Elvisly Yours, Joanna
