The 9th annual Montreal Performers Showcase was indeed another successful event! The ETAs were fueled by the audience’s response to their energetic performances and were thrilled to gratify the crowd’s longing for memories of Elvis, in whatever respect they could. Four newcomers joined us on the LLM stage in Montreal and together with six familiar faces, produced one heck of an entertaining weekend. As usual, the fans made the event extra special by thoroughly enjoying themselves.
The wonderful, passionate Montreal audience remains #1 of audiences of North America! Thank you all for coming out to support the talent - enjoy the pictorial!
Wayne Jr from North Bay, Ontario, seems to have adopted Montreal as his new ‘home away from home’. He loves the people and they love him right back! On his first trip to Montreal for the Peoples Choice, he managed to steal the hearts of our crowd and win their votes, placing him as the winner in two different venues. Appearing in the Showcase allowed Wayne to entertain our audience for a full set and they still couldn’t get enough of him! A powerful voice and feeling the presence of Elvis in every muscle of his body, he executed a dynamic show and it was a real pleasure watching him entertain and receive standing ovations. He is comfortable with any audience, so we promise, Wayne will return to Montreal very soon folks.....we got your messages loud and clear! Thanks for liking us Wayne.........
Hurrah, yes folks, as you can see, your loveable Marcus returned but for one night. He flew in from Toronto Friday and flew back for another engagement early Saturday, but boy oh boy, what a time we had! Check out the smiling faces - so typical of his adoring crowd. Beautiful vocals and an adorable smile were only surpassed by his now svelte look, yet still, the heart and soul of his Elvis spirit shines through in each and every performance he graces the LLM stage with. He is a wonderful person to befriend and even with his busy schedule, he can find the time to return to his home of birth, Montreal. Thank you Marcus, we will always appreciate your talent and hope you can return soon..........
It was an extra special visit with Bruce Herron, coming down from Guelph, Ontario. The audience made him feel right at home and welcomed him back to Montreal asking him for song request after request, to which he complied. Bruce’s daughter, Whitney, joined him on the trip here and touched the hearts of all when she rushed to the stage to be beside her Dad. He sang to her and even shared a dance - so obviously loving each other so much, reminding the audience I’m sure, of the bond between Lisa Marie and Elvis. Bruce was also accompanied by his son Jesse Herron, who performed an astonishing dance tribute to Michael Jackson. Montreal has now become attached to the Herron family and we do hope they’ll return soon. Thanks Bruce, well done.....................
From Schenectady, New York, Bill McGrath returned for the second time to Montreal and wowed the crowd with his looks and early Elvis styling. He worked the room, let all the gals ooh and aah (not to mention scream, swoon and shout ) and had himself his usual swinging fun time entertaining everyone! That has to be what attracts a crowd to an entertainer the most.......having fun while they are performing. Very relaxed with his audience, Bill has such a charming way of reaching out to people and the people can’t help but react in a positive way. Bill brought his lovely wife Meg Morrow with him (she’s an Elvis entertainer as well) to perform on the Saturday night, but unfortunately, both were suddenly called back to New York to see Bill’s ailing mother, who had been rushed to hospital. Mom is doing fine now, so maybe we can look forward to Meg doing a show in the near future. God bless you kids and thanks for joining us in Montreal............
Jack Millette, one of Quebec’s leading Elvis Entertainers, was back in the building for his second appearance with us in Montreal. Jack performed a high energy set on Friday night that got not only those who knew him, but those who hadn’t seen him perform before, jumping out of their seats to clap and even dance around the tables! An excellent voice, great moves and a charm that endears him to his audience, it was a pleasure to watch him having fun on stage and even more of a pleasure watching the crowd having a great time. Another artist who was booked elsewhere on the Saturday evening, it was disappointing to many, knowing they had missed Jack’s performance the night before. But don’t despair folks, he’ll return to the Montreal area soon. Thanks for the show Jack.................
Well, well, this was a pleasant surprise indeed! Dave Stewart, a 2009 Collingwood winner from Guelph, Ontario, made his first trip to Montreal and was very well received by everyone! His often witty rapport with the audience had many in stitches, but they did stop laughing long enough to be impressed by his pipes. Dave only had to perform two songs on the Friday (which was a good thing), downed quite a bit of Buckley’s cough syrup, hit the sack and by show time on the Saturday, he had recouped! Quite the tough Irishman indeed! When his Irish eyes were smilin’, he lit up the room and reached into the souls of anyone who had a drop of Irish blood in them (including Italians, ha) and belted out a couple of verses of Danny Boy. That’s it Dave, ya got ‘em good! Thanks for coming................
Jim Bishop made his way down to Montreal from Fredericton, NB, joined a few friends in the area and then went on to make new friends in our town - then it was time for him to come to the show! Nice job from this tall slender newcomer to the stage and quite the charmer, as you can tell from the photo on the left! Jim covered the ‘50’s era, as well as the ‘68 leather with ease and we think he was even happy with his performance. Jim has only been an ETA for a few years and claims he learned a lot from one of Montreal’s (&LLM’s) good friends, ETA Mike Bravener, who is also from New Brunswick. Well we sure did enjoy having Jim perform on the LLM stage for the first time and hope he’ll return once more. To this very friendly fellow, we say “thanks for coming”.........................
So we’ve finally gotten to see one of Montreal’s best kept secrets? You’ve got it Montreal, Bryant Scott had kept himself away from us.....why the heck was he hiding? He made his way out to competitions in Lake George and Windsor, and won! Heck, he’s been all over the place, performing many shows with his band, but somehow managed to slip under the LLM radar.....? Well, that is surely NO MORE - ‘Cause we found him and won’t let him go! Bryant really did a wonderful job for our audience and they let him know it by their thunderous applause. Though he seems to by a very shy guy, his inter-action with the crowd was very natural and smooth, with a few funny comments added to the mix. His strong voice and great mic technique made his entire show ever so pleasant to listen to and his overall styling was a compliment well paid to Elvis, which folks could enjoy watching. Thanks for deciding to appear in our shows Bryant..............
”Lightning Larry” as he was dubbed on this trip by his frenzied Montreal friends, couldn’t have pleased the audience more. It started a few years ago, when this very tall and a bit on the wild side entertainer first came to Montreal from Sudbury, ON. He darted from one end of the room to the other, making use of both stages, jumping on the bar and a few tables, letting the ladies grab the scarves and we gotta tell ya.......the ladies absolutely loved every bit of attention he gave them. This “Larry” action, is what they came out to see again and no one was disappointed. They love him and Larry loves them right back. A few of us got exhausted just watching him and we were worried he’d lose his balance jumping up on a table, but all was well. Keep smiling Larry, you obviously have a passion for the stage and we know you adore the heart of Elvis. Thanks for joining us once again.........
Daniel Barella from Long Island, NY, joined us for the first time in Montreal on this 9th annual Showcase weekend. We met him up in Collingwood during the summer and had to ask him to sing for our Montreal friends. His rich vocals were a crowd pleaser and his song selection made for an easy listening, dreamy like atmosphere, thoroughly enjoyed by all. Daniel is no stranger to an audience and loves to talk to the fans, which he did both on the stage and off. We even got to speak with him about his shows in the US and he told us of his desire to help in fundraising events. Daniel helps raise thousands for various shelters, seniors homes and hospitals, singing songs by one of the most benevolent people of our era, Elvis Presley. What an interesting and caring man he is and it was a pleasure to meet him.
Thanks for the weekend Daniel....................
Montreal’s honey, Matt Nardi, has really become more familiar with an audience and he just seems to improve on moves, vocals and his general sense of capturing the era of young Elvis. He’s only just begun his career as a tribute artist and has already been given the opportunity to find himself on a stage with DJ Fontana. Matt has done a lot of traveling in the past two years, has quite the busy schedule and is booked for at least 30 shows and competitions for 2009 alone! A native of LaSalle, Quebec, we are lucky to have him drop in to be a guest in our shows and most certainly, the Montreal audience has come to adopt him, by welcoming him into their hearts, in the true spirit of Elvis. Thanks for another great guest show Matt, until the next time..........................
